Airbag Sensor Sealing
Airbag sensors are critical safety components in modern vehicles, requiring robust sealing to protect against oil, fuel, and other automotive fluids.
What do Airbag Sensor Sealing Adhesives do?
Typically housed in PBT or ABS plastic, these sensors must be sealed with adhesives that offer high reliability, fast curing, and long-term durability. The sensor housing needs to be sealed against against oil, fuel and other automotive fluids, and because of the large volumes manufactured, a fast-curing adhesive is required. DELO KATIOBOND is the material-of-choice as it meets all these requirements, as well as providing excellent adhesion.
Key Features of DELO KATIOBOND
- Light-activated versions can be used in opaque applications
- Very fast curing to minimise process costs
- Epoxy base ensures dry surface after cure
- Excellent chemical resistance
- One-part, ideal for manual or automated processing

Very fast curing, very short cycle times
DELO KATIOBOND adhesives cure in seconds, resulting in very short cycle times. Once cured, they meet all automotive requirements such as temperature cycling, thermal shock, vibration testing, 85°C / 85%RH, etc.
Application Benefits
- One-Part Formulation: Simplifies processing for both manual and automated production lines.
- Opaque Compatibility: Light-activated variants work effectively even in non-transparent sensor housings.
- Minimal Usage, Maximum Impact: Just 0.1g of adhesive is sufficient to seal an airbag sensor, yet it delivers exceptional performance under harsh conditions.
Industry Use
- High-reliability sealing applications
- Automotive electronics
- Sensor integration
