E-Motors for Wheelchairs
Electric motors used in powered wheelchairs must be compact, durable, and capable of withstanding mechanical and thermal stress.

What do E-Motor Bonding Adhesives do?
DELO’s two-part Polyurethane adhesives, dispensed via DELO Side-by-Side cartridges, provide a reliable solution for bonding magnets into machined steel cylinders, ensuring long-term performance and manufacturing efficiency.
The high (pasty) viscosity adhesives allow for bonding in the vertical plane. The relative flexibility of the adhesives compensates for the CTE mis-match between the materials, enabling the finished device to meet thermal shock requirements from -40C to +90C.
Because these adhesives cure at room temperature, the assembled devices can be packaged immediately after manufacture for shipment to the next stage of the supply chain.
Key Features of DELO-PUR

Why DELO-PUR Adhesives for E-Motor Assembly?
- High Strength: Withstands both static and dynamic loads during operation and transport.
- Tension-Equalising: Compensates for the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch between steel and magnet materials.
- High Viscosity: Enables vertical bonding without adhesive run-off.
- Thermal Shock Resistance: Proven performance from -40°C to +90°C, ideal for outdoor and mobile applications.
- Room-Temperature Curing: Allows immediate packaging and shipment post-assembly, streamlining production.
Application Process
Magnets are inserted into a machined steel cylinder and bonded using DELO-PUR adhesives. The pasty consistency ensures precise placement, while the two-part formulation cures without the need for heat or UV light.
Performance Benefits
- Gap-Filling Capability: Accommodates manufacturing tolerances.
- No Fixture Required: Adhesive holds components in place during cure.
- Durable Bond Line: Maintains integrity under vibration and load cycling.
Use Cases
- Electric motors in powered wheelchairs
- Compact drive systems in mobility aids
- Magnet bonding in medical and industrial e-motors
